Who we are
Clay Pieces Pottery Studio is a pottery experience studio based in Meerhof, Hartbeespoort, South Africa. Pauline du Plessis is the owner and the person responsible for how your information is handled. You can reach her at polla.dup.work@gmail.com or on 067 801 4423.
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what your rights are under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What we collect
When you send us an enquiry, we collect your name, email address, WhatsApp number, and whatever you tell us in your message. If you include a preferred date or the number of people in your group, we collect that too.
When you book and pay for an experience, our booking provider collects your name, email address, phone number, and the details of your booking. We never see or store your card details.
We do not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or analytics that identify you personally.
Why we collect it
We use your information for one purpose: to respond to your enquiry, arrange your session, and stay in touch about your booking. That includes letting you know when your fired pieces are ready to collect.
We do not send marketing emails unless you have asked us to, and we never sell or rent your information to anyone.
Who else sees it
A small number of service providers handle your information on our behalf:
- Our website form provider receives enquiries submitted through this site and forwards them to our email.
- Our booking and payment provider processes bookings and payments made through our booking pages. Card payments are handled by a licensed South African payment gateway. We never receive your card number.
- Our website host stores and serves this website. Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when the page loads.
Each of these providers is bound to use your information only for the service they provide to us.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry messages for as long as we are in conversation with you, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back to us. We keep booking records for five years, as South African tax law requires. After that, we delete them.
Keeping it safe
We keep your information in password-protected accounts and share it only with the providers listed above. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you give us. If a breach ever affects your information, we will let you know and report it to the Information Regulator.
Your rights
Under POPIA you can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong or out of date
- Delete your information, where we are not legally required to keep it
- Stop using your information for a particular purpose
- Object to how we are using it
Email polla.dup.work@gmail.com and we will respond as quickly as we can. We will not charge you for a reasonable request.
Children
Our experiences welcome young makers, but bookings must be made by an adult. We do not knowingly collect information directly from anyone under 18.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa. Their contact details are published at inforegulator.org.za.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
